Crusade's End

And so it is that our raiding comes to a close for The Burning Crusade. I'd like to thank everyone that made the raiding possible, from SFAustria that graciously took over the whip from me (well, most of the time) to all the classleads procrastinating their duties to all the rest of you (whom, I assume, also procrastinated things without telling me about them). It's been an interesting ride, to say the least, but we managed what I believe was the original bar of TBC: Illidan. In the process, we've built up a much better cohesion within both tanking, healing and damage circles, leaps and bounds beyond what we had at the start of TBC. I think it's great.

Now is also roughly three years from the beginnings of SeventhFlight. I wouldn't celebrate the three-year birthday until the day of our first raid in 2006, which really marked our start, but it still is a milestone. It was on October 29th, 2005, that the then-SF made its first inaugural "raid", gathering up the then-members at Fray Island in the Barrens. It was also then that we set our Friday/Sunday/Tuesday raiding routine that has lasted us through TBC and hopefully beyond*. I think it's awesome for us to have stuck together for so long when so many other communities and guilds have come and gone. I think it's a testament to SeventhFlight's attitude towards having an enjoyable time more than progressing as fast as possible, or getting as many purples as possible.

With The Burning Crusade's raiding winding down, I'd encourage everyone to take a breather now and enjoy the scenery. Blizzard is promising to treat us with more on the Wrath opening event, but this is also a great time to "recharge your batteries", so to speak, in preparation for the expansion itself. There will be levelling to do, questing to do, and, at the end, Naxxramas to do. I expect to meet up with the more addicted of you later this year in 10-man Naxxramas, and the community as a whole resumes 25-man raiding early next year.

Finally, I'd like to extend a personal thank you to all those who are in SF now and all those who were with us in the past. SeventhFlight has, since early 2006, been the only reason I kept my World of Warcraft subscription active. It's been great fooling around with you guys, and that's more important than the flavour-of-the-month flashy game.

Here's to SF so far, and SF to be.

(* We also set our very high standard of applications, to be re-done a bit later. Anecdotally, I believe Dateifi's application merely stated that he was a priest, and his acceptation reply only stated "welcome")
